Far East Inspiration

Far East Inspiration

Sometimes inspiration comes to us when we least expect it. Other times, we seek it but it’s just beyond our grasp (like the green light across the bay in The Great Gatsby). One thing that’s certain is that if my daughter is traveling with me, we’re going to find just that special something that stays with us for a lifetime, some inspiration that we can infuse into our daily lives or our professional lives. Let’s take for instance the fact that most of our friends in China have Eastern names and Chinese names. My daughter asked, since we already have Eastern names, couldn’t we have Chinese names. This thrilled our friends and they took great time in thinking what our perfect Chinese names would be. My daughter’s Chinese name is “May Li” meaning ‘beautiful’, while mine was “I May” meaning ‘one who loves beautiful things’. How perfect! An interior designer does love beautiful things but even deeper than that is the fact that I love my children, my daughter who is “May Li”. Today I honor my daughter “May Li” and thank God that she is healthy and well after wrecking her car yesterday from total physical fatigue.

Go & visit the HGTV Pop Up Home at Atlanta’s Phipps Plaza open until June 5th. It’s well worth the time to stop in. I went by Sunday and was delighted to be one on one with HGTV’s Designer Vern Yip. While there, see many of the gorgeous HGTV by Shaw “Grandeur Rugs”.
